“Worth Looking Into,”
a free, Year of the Window, special forum, was presented by the Eureka Heritage Society Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Eureka Woman’s Club, 930 J St.

The event explored which options are best for old houses: maintaining original windows, putting in modern replacements, or other alternatives.
Financial and environmental issues were debated by entrepreneurs and experts on both sides of this issue.

The Heritage Society’s Year of the Window is an educational campaign to encourage owners of historical structures to repair and maintain their original windows.

green book The Green Book
In 1987, The Society published the outstanding document,

"Eureka, An Architectural View".

Also known as The Green Book, it contains photographs of 1200 homes and is considered one of the finest collection of details on historic homes ever published. A limited number of these books still exist and can be purchased directly from The Eureka Heritage Society. - For a more detailed description of the Green Book and ordering information, please click here.

The Eureka Heritage Society is interested in updating and making corrections to the Survey Files. Forms A and B are available on the EHS web site and in the Humboldt Room of the County Library. The forms need to be returned to:
