1930 Present Owners: Original Owner:
Architectural Notes:
This house was built in the Colonial Revival style popular at the time.
A flatwork balustrade that is a two-dimensional image of what would
have been turned posts in the Colonial style tops the porch.
The floor plan is a simple four over four that modestly addresses this
architectural style. Notable Features:
Minimal changes have occurred over the years. The kitchen and upstairs bath were modernized in the
“atomic design” so popular in the 1950s.
Remnants still exist. Historical
Notes: Built in the Buhne Terrace Addition, this house has had only two
owners. The first owner, Verne and Leta Johnson, had an automotive supply
business in the early 1930s and then owned the Verne Johnson Super Service
Station, located at Sixth and E Streets. Jorge Lourenco and Jill Macdonald
bought the house in August 2001 from Jack Mozzini, the brother of the late Mrs.
Johnson. The house was in excellent condition, only requiring the
refinishing of the fir flooring and painting. The current owners say “They love living here” and “have just started on a long journey of appropriate updates that suit the house as well as the family.”
